Patient Instructions: SQ Injection
IVF - Stimulation Medication Mixing
- MIX … with black (22g 11/2 in needle)
- GIVE … with blue (25g 5/8 in needle)
- ALWAYS MIX WITH ½ CC (ml) OF LIQUID
Example:
If you are told to take 2 Follistim (for example)
This would equal a total of 2 POWDERS & 2 LIQUIDS.
ONLY using ½ cc from one of the liquids, mix ALL the Stim. Meds. This is accomplished by DRAWING-UP ½ cc of liquid into the syringe --- then insert the ½ cc of liquid into the first powder. Now draw-up the mixture and place it into the second powder … THREE POWDERS OR MORE, continue this process until all the powders are mixed together in the ½ cc of liquid.
Remember: each of the Stimulation Medications will have a diluent (liquid), you will not need all of the liquids.
If you were told to take more than 3 powders, mix with 1cc of liquid.
